Allison Gunderson

Ms. Gunderson started her ballet career at the young age of three in Erie, Pennsylvania under the direction of Sharon Filone at the Lake Erie Ballet School. She first began performing in the Lake Erie Ballet Company’s The Nutcracker at the age of 9, and performed various roles in that production including Waltz of the Snowflakes, Waltz of the Flowers, and Chinese demi-soloist. She also performed in various full length story-ballets including Sleeping Beauty, Hansel and Gretel, the lead role in Peter Pan and The Fall Fairy in Cinderella. During her time with LEB she attended and performed at the prestigious Regional Dance America where she took classes from renowned teachers of the North East region. She also performed “Prayer” choreographed by Jonathan Phelps in 2003. She joined the Lake Erie Ballet Company under the direction of Gina Ribera-Illingworth for her final year of study in 2004. Since leaving Erie, she obtained her Bachelor’s of Science degree at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Physician Assistant Studies. There, she met Terry Fyke and was asked to join the Terry Fyke Studio of Dance as the advanced ballet and pointe teacher in 2007. She has remained in this role through the studio’s transitions working with Melissa Carney at PACE (Performing Arts Center for Education) and now with Jena Morey and Amy Sullivan at Stilla Dance. She has also been dancing with and is a co-Artistic Director of Rochester’s only all-girls solo-jazz troupe The Flower City Follies since their inception in 2012. She is currently working full-time at the Wilmot Cancer Institute in the Ambulatory Thoracic and Head and Neck center as a medical oncology PA.
