Amy became enamored with movement at a young age first, with gymnastics and then with dance. Through her primary and teen years Amy danced with Terry Fyke Studio of Dance located in Scottville, NY. TFSD became a second home where a passion for dance was sparked and then nurtured. Amy began teaching at TFSD throughout her high school years, and eventually led her to achieve a BS degree in Childhood and Special Education from Roberts Wesleyan College, where she learned the finer skills of teaching and managing a classroom; Amy was rewarded with the opportunity to apply these skills as a preschool teacher upon the completion of her degree. However, Amy’s love of dance continued and led her to pursue a Master’s in Fine Arts degree in dance and choreography from SUNY Brockport. At SUNY Brockport, Amy had the opportunity to dance in faculty pieces, as well as produce her own choreographed works in adjudicated concerts. At present, Amy pursues performance and choreography in the community through her own self titled shows and as a member of one dance co. Both one dance co. and Amy’s choreographed works are largely collaborative in which she enjoys working with an array of local artists.
